Mai Chau is located about 150 kms west of Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake in the mountainous Northwest Provine of Hoa Binh. The town of Mai Chau is sunrrounded by montains as high as 1200 meters/ 3940 feet. This Valley provides exellent weather conditions and agriculture conditions for the cultivation of rice. Rice is the town manin industry and consumed locally and sold at the markets in Hoa Binh, Hanoi and globally.
In addition to rice, the many Ethnic minorities make Mai Chau a popular tourism destination for foreigners and Vietnamese,too. These minorities, White Thai, H’mong and others are hill tribles have amazing techniques throughout their culture for mountainous geography. For example, the unique stilt house architecture, distinct food preparation and knowledge of nature around them.
